Went to the Stock Show on Friday - SG bought me some lovely, lovely work gloves. Thinsulate-lined deerskin gloves; very warm, very sturdy. LOVE them!

FIL is....well, he's been moved to a regular room. I talked to him last night; he was slightly confused and very, very wheezy. :sigh: I....don't like it. At all.

Piano! It's going well. The teacher has both of us in book 1 for "Recreational Music Makers". It fits - I don't want to perform anywhere, I just want to be able to play piano. And harp. Problem......this book is, so far, too basic for *me*. He assigned both of us Module 1 for this week. I am....well, I'm into Module 4 already. To be fair, he warned me I'd move pretty quickly at first. The problem? I have to hide it from SG, who doesn't read music, doesn't have much music background, and is struggling with Module 1. :sigh: NOT fun at all.....(Every practice I start with Module 1. IF I play it perfectly, I move on to 2, then 3 etc. I have to play it perfect before I move on, though - I want my left hand to get with the program. Module 5 is where we are introduced to the Grand Staff (both clefs!)...I'm waiting on that. For now.)

Still knitting. Finished the fingerless gloves and started (yet) another hat. This one has Sheepies on it!

So, FIL was taken to the ER Sunday evening. I didn't panic - it was sorta same 'ol, same 'ol, y'know? Only....Tuesday evening he started having a very hard time breathing, so they moved him to ICU and thought very seriously about intubating him. Yesterday he spent sleeping; this AM he was awake and eating (but I haven't talked to him since Tuesday). The nurse told me he was doing a LOT better today, and they might move him tonight. :sigh:

Today is piano, so I can't run over there, but we're going to try to go over tomorrow.

In other news, the house is almost all painted. SG just needs to do the ceiling in the family room and dining room, and then the door trims. And put down new baseboards in the hall, entry, and dining room. (We're going to do a brick veneer on the bottom half of the walls in the family room, and cedar planks on the bar - so no baseboards there!)

Then next week my kitchen will be done!!!!!!!!!!! (Let me give you a few more - !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

More later - gotta skitter!
fiberaddict: (Default)
baby, it's COLD outside! 28*, to be exact. :brrrrrr: I don't have a fire going right now, because last night our smoke detectors decided to go haywire. :sigh: We think it's because of all the dust in here - there is NO REASON for them to be going off. It's no fun at 2:30 AM to be frantically running around outside, to see if there are flames/smoke coming from your house! (Nope - SG even went up into the attic to verify.) We'll be trying to blow them out today; if that doesn't work we'll be replacing them.

Himself is doing well - he managed to eat an actual sandwich last night! We're going to try a burger for lunch - he's anxious to get back to real food!

I bought him a new game yesterday - Subnautica. It's a very, very pretty game - basically an underwater survival game. It's so pretty, *I* am thinking about playing it! (That's big. I don't play many video games these days; I'd rather knit.) He's trying to get me to buy Abzu - he says it's basically Journey (which I enjoyed!) but underwater. (Hmmm....I'm seeing a theme, here.) We'll see.

I finished my cowl Wednesday evening - 4 days from cast on to bind off. Not too bad! I need to do more "fast" knitting - larger than fingering yarn on size 5+ needles (my socks are knit on 1's or 1.5's. BIG difference!) I also need a few more cowls and hats (and fingerless mitts).

We pick Herself up tomorrow. It's been a long week without her! *She* actually *called* ME Wednesday!!! (This is BIG. B-I-G big!) Granted, it wasn't much of a conversation, but still - a phone call! :will wonders never cease?:

I guess I should get back to the current sock project. Shabbat Shalom, and stay warm, y'all!
fiberaddict: (Default)
Himself had his wisdom teeth removed yesterday, and it went well. Today he is sore, but not horribly so. I am extremely thankful - any type of surgery is dangerous.

I started a new cowl, and am halfway through it. Today we are chilling at home; I have a fire going, he's on the futon, and things are good.

The mortgage company is giving me fits; more on that later. :sigh: I can't wait to pay them off and tell them what I think of them. Hint: it's not complementary.
fiberaddict: (Default)
Normally, I'd be cleaning for Shabbat...but now? My house is a disaster, there's NOTHING to clean (and no point - the mud on the slab (from 13 years ago!) will just turn to dust and cover everything within 10 minutes.), so......I am sitting in front of the wood stove, trying to warm up.

Himself is now cavity-free. He got the last 2 fillings yesterday; his mouth is a bit sore this AM, but nothing major. Monday, however.......:poor kid: Herself didn't sleep last night; we went to the Endocronologist yesterday, and she prescribed some sleeping meds (that we'll pick up today), so hopefully that'll get straightened out.

Poor girl - they STILL can't get her thyroid figured out. She has all the symptoms of Hashimoto's, except her blood tests come up "normal". :grrrrr: We're trying to figure out HOW to figure this out - the doctor can't officially diagnose her without the "proper" bloodwork. :sigh:

Ah, well. Such is life. We'll get it figured out eventually.

Shabbat Shalom, y'all!
fiberaddict: (Default)
So. Yesterday Himself had 2 dental appointments; the AM one was for fillings, the PM one was the consult for his wisdom teeth extraction.

The fillings went well, but they only did half; he has apparently inherited my sensitive teeth. They had given him the max allowed novocaine before they got to the bottom teeth, so he gets to go back on Thursday to get *them* done.

The consult went very well, too - he goes in Monday to get all 4 teeth extracted. :whew!: SO glad we homeschool - I don't know how we'd be able to manage, otherwise!

We sent the Insurance check off to the mortgage company Express Mail yesterday......only they won't get it (probably) until *tomorrow*. :Sigh: Then we wait on THEM to get off their arses and get the check back to us so we can get this party started. We verified the flooring quote (and confirmed the flooring I wanted) yesterday....I am SO glad we decided to go with Ikea cabinets. There's no way the check would cover everything, otherwise (we went with a slightly more expensive vinyl plank flooring instead of laminate; it'll last longer - especially with the dogs we have.) We probably won't be done by Hanukkah - MAYBE by New Year's, but it's doubtful. We're planning on doing the cabinet install ourselves - Ikea charges $200/cabinet to install (on average).....yeah, I can DIY it myself for free. :Sigh:

My cold miraculously vanished yesterday AM - Praise God! I thought I'd be out of commission for at least a week, but He had other plans!

Gotta skitter - need to wake up the younglings and get school started. Laters!
fiberaddict: (Default)
Because, you see, yesterday the 3 of us decided to give Herself a gift - we cleaned and repainted the Garage Studio (to be henceforward known as "Herself's Studio". It was a mess - I've said that before - but.....:shudder:

I have a trailer-load of stuff that needs to be sorted, cleaned and put into my Studio. There is a pile of stuff along one wall in her Studio that needs to be sorted, but we all ran out of oomph before we could finish it. We DID manage to repaint most of the ceiling (ran out of paint :sigh:) and all the walls (except for about 1" at the top; we'll go back and do that after the ceiling is done. She'll have to live with green at the top of her blue.)

We have about 15 contractor bags full of trash. :shudder: But! It's clean! She can focus on her room instead of obsessing about her Studio!

I hope they will remove the fans today - I really, really, really need to sleep in my OWN bed. Even with all the dogs!

Today is FIL's doctor day; he has another appointment on Thursday, but I think I'm going to have to miss that one. Also.....SIL called last night; she's in the hospital with bloody vomit and vertigo. :bangs head: Didn't I fire 2016 already??????

Gotta get ready to hit the ground running......
fiberaddict: (Default)
REAL disaster, not just "my candidate didn't win, oh woe is me!" :sigh: - the Lord can use it, and will. Why?

Because my house currently resembles a wind tunnel, I have NO flooring (except in the Master Suite, and part of Herself's room), and it smells of anti-microbial spray. Himself and I are happily camped out in the Studio (Loki stayed with us last night, as "protection". :snerk:......I want to cry. Seriously.

The Adjuster sent out a Disaster Recovery team Friday evening (she hasn't been out yet - she's waiting for all the fans and dehumidifiers to do their thing first). They got there around 5....and left at 12:30, only to return at 9:30 yesterday morning. I had thought that only the kitchen/laundry/family rooms would need work......oh, no. The carpet pad under the laminate was wet throughout the *entire* house. We had the dogs locked in the Master Suite - I was praying that somehow the water didn't go there. The Lord heard me - the water stopped 8" in front of our door! (Granted, the water went UNDER the kitchen cabinets along the shared wall, so there is still a chance that our room got wet......but for the moment, it was spared. I realize that *we* will probably have to pay to replace that floor - all my floors were the same - but 1 room is not that expensive, all told. :sigh:)

Herself's room was only wet 3' in, but still - the entire floor will have to be replaced. I've tried to prepare her.....I pick her up tomorrow, and she's got to start packing things up.

The crew leader told us we'll most likely get PODS to put all our stuff into. It has to go SOMEWHERE. He also said we'd probably be put up in a hotel - I nixed that idea. We have 7 dogs - there's no way any hotel will allow that; boarding honestly isn't an option for 5 out of the 6 (it would be too traumatic for them). The Studio has room for us to sleep - right now, Himself is on the pull-out bed, and I am on a twin-sized air mattress (the queen won't fit while the bed is open). When Herself gets home I'll either close up the sofa bed and set up the queen mattress, or I'll buy another twin mattress ($8, plus another 5 for a sheet). SG refuses to move; he says it's no louder than the computer room at his plant........:whatever: (The upshot is, he gets to sleep with 6 dogs crowded in. Loki was QUITE happy to bunk with us.)

The dogs are totally confused - all the furniture is pulled to the center of the rooms (because they had to punch holes in where the baseboards used to be so that the fans can dry out the drywall there - it was ALL wet.) and squished together (as you can imagine), so there's no place for them to lay down. Our bedroom is the same....but Chloe and Riley are used to sleeping on the futon and loveseat while Bree normally sleeps on the sofa. Now, though......they are all crowded into 1 room. (We have large dogs, have I mentioned that?)

I am totally sick over this.......we have 25 fans and 3 dehumidifiers running 24/7 until tomorrow at the earliest. All my stuff has been handled by strangers - they were nice, and professional, but that's not the point. A crew will be dispatched to load up the PODS (or whatever they decide to do with our stuff - it can NOT stay in the house, no matter what else is decided). And Herself.....she's going to be an absolute basket case. I've already moved all our current and soon-to-be-utilized Homeschooling stuff out to the Studio - I don't want to lose any more time if at all possible. (Crud. I still need to move a TV and DVD player out.....or wait. I have an external CD/DVD player for the MacBook Air (which I am typing this on)....I'll get the drive this AM and we'll be set to go, once the next set of DVDs come in.) And our wi-fi reaches out here - Praise God for that! (The first thing SG did when the crew walked out the door was to plug in the router and his iMac. Techies! :shakes head: )(Himself brought his PC out here, so he's happily playing Space Engineers and Star Wars: Battlefront. It just fits on the serger desk - I'm glad I kept the desk, instead of deciding space was more important than storage!)(And the cutting table was finished Wednesday, just in time to use it to store my fine china on! The Lord really was looking out for us!)

I am trying to look on the bright side......I'll get new floors! (We're talking about either linoleum or simply painting/staining the slab. Right now, I am leaning heavily on the paint/stain, because I do NOT want to go thru this again! SG is trying to talk me off of that ledge - concrete will be colder than the vinyl (which.....we need something that will stand up to the dogs, with as few seams as possible. Laminate works, but.....seams. And if - IF - we ever get another leak......:shudder:) I'll also get new cabinets and countertops (bottom only, probably - but hey! New! And we'll only be out our deductible.......:sigh:

I do have photos, but.......they make me sick to look at them. I'll try to post something later this week, once we know what the plan is.

Thank God the Studio was finished enough we can basically live in it! It's a bit of a slog to do a bathroom run at 2 AM, but I can deal with that. (Trying to look on the bright side!)

Well....

the Lord moves in mysterious ways, y'all! SG has noticed the water bill going up the past few months. Wednesday evening, he came in and noticed a puddle near the laundry room door, in the garage studio. So, we did some investigating....and discovered a MAJOR problem. The laundry room floor had water bubbling up from under the laminate, as did the kitchen and dining room. :sigh:

Friday AM I called the plumber while SG called the insurance. Both of us were afraid of a slab leak.......but it HAS to be fixed. Plumber came out.....after a few hours of searching, we discovered that - good news! - it's not a slab leak. Bad news - it was somewhere in the wall behind/near the dishwasher.

A few more hours later, the plumber had deconstructed the cabinet next to the dishwasher. The leak? Was a tiny hole in the main line; it looks like the builders - 13 years ago! - drove a nail/screw into the copper pipe, and it finally rusted through. :sigh:

The dishwasher is/was sitting in 2" of water. The slab under the cabinets...is flooded. The family room had water sloshing up in between the laminate pieces....it's a MESS.

The adjuster has NOT been out yet. Someone is coming out soon (within the hour, supposedly) to try and dry out the floors, and remove any/all wet laminate. :snerk: I suspect I'll end up on the slab in the laundry, dining, and family rooms and kitchen, because you can feel the floor squelching under your feet....and the smell! :sigh:

The plumber said I'll get new cabinets, and should replace the dishwasher. He also said the floors will have to be replaced.......I am NOT looking forward to this, but it's got to be done.

SO not looking forward to Thanksgiving......:sigh:
fiberaddict: (Default)
:sigh: FIL was BACK in the hospital Friday evening; we brought him home yesterday afternoon. Herself is staying with him this week, but she has to come home Monday because we have dental appointments and she and Himself have ortho. appointments on Tuesday. Fun times.....

I spent most of today in bed - I am spent. Tomorrow is a post office run (THANK YOU!), but today? Today was sleep. Himself and I played a round of Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures - he kicked my butt.

No weaving since Friday. :-( Maybe tomorrow....we'll see. I don't wanna get wet if I don't have to.......
fiberaddict: (Default)
Sukkot began Sunday evening; we spent it in the Studio. Um. Yeah. The air mattress sprung a leak, the dogs would NOT shut up - because the people! Were! Gone! And the A/C cycles on and off...so I got very little sleep.

Last night, we moved to the living room. New air mattress......which the dogs managed to pull the plug on. Twice. (I can laugh, now - and it'll be a hysterical story next year! - but it wasn't fun at 10:30 to have to scramble to find the pump to re-fill the rapidly collapsing mattress.) I slept better, though....

Let's see.....Sunday I started moving stuff into the Studio. SG's plant officially closed on Friday (he's there until December), so this week looks to be clean-up. He brought home a bookcase for me, and surprised me with a lovely display cabinet. He said "I'm not sure IF you can use this, but.....I've always liked it and it was slated to go to the dumpster, so.....". I said "SOCK YARN STASH!!!!" and giggled as we moved it in. God is indeed Good!

Today's goal: Fill the case with my sock yarn (and probably most/all of my knitting yarn. Contrary to popular belief, I really DO NOT have that much knitting yarn. Honest! Most of my stash is fiber........that needs to be converted to yarn. I also want to try to move the weaving/spinning books out there...and maybe the knitting books, too. That might be tomorrow's job, though. We'll see. I need to organize the books as I shelve them - which is a job in and of itself!

Yesterday was FIL's day. I went with him to do errands - we got a LOT done. I also brought home a few quilting books so I can start learning how to finish that quilt.....I'll take 'em back in the next few weeks (until he and my SIL say I can have them, I'm only borrowing them. Do I want them? Yes - they're books! But I want them honestly, not taken piecemeal. If that makes sense.) Got home to find no electrician...:sigh: He's going to have a lot to work around if he keeps putting us off.

Gotta skitter - I need to start moving yarn!
fiberaddict: (Default)
1. Busy weekend. Got the Studio ceiling *almost* done - we needed 12 panels; we had 10. Due to a mis-cut, we ended up with 9. Lowe's is out of stock on them....so I have an ugly gap. Ah, well - the hard part is *done*!

2. Finished the first of 2 wall quilts, and am about to cut out the 2nd. It turned out *cute*! Yes, pics - later. Probably when I do a Studio reveal.....

3. Have to take FIL to the doc tomorrow AND Wednesday. Yom Kippur begins tomorrow evening....um. Fasting + driving =/= work.....I get dizzy, shaky, and prone to black outs when I fast. So....I will deny myself "good" stuff - no desserts, no high-calorie stuff, just sustenance. It's the best I can do under the circumstances (if I didn't have to take FIL, I would gladly fast....the consequences aren't as bad when I am home. :sigh:)

Hopefully I will have pics to share soon....:fingers crossed:. The electrician started on the lights today.....we'll see how long it takes him.
fiberaddict: (Default)
FIL was discharged yesterday afternoon. We had to leave before; I dropped Herself off at his house and Himself and I ran home - it was SG's "retirement" dinner. Got home in time for Himself and I to feed critters, then I got ready.

Dinner was nice. It was held at III Forks, an upscale steak house. I am STILL stuffed....

After school today I'll run Himself out to FIL's to stay the weekend. Sunday we'll evaluate and see who stays/comes home.

I have a LOT of catching up to do......H, I have your book, but I haven't read it yet. Hopefully soon.....:sigh:

Hope y'all have a great Shabbat!
fiberaddict: (Default)
but, alas, we are NOT. Didn't I FIRE 2016? Because...yeah, it needs to vacate the premises NOW. :sigh:

Last week was good - FIL was doing OK, kids had settled back into the routine...then DH threw a fit, FIL started coughing again...and he's now in the hospital. Again.

This is getting old, y'all.

I dried up the does yesterday. I just...can't keep milking. We've gone non-stop since 2014; this batch of does freshened in early 2015. Except Zoey, who has been milking since 2014. We need the break...I'll just buy milk. Or learn to drink frozen and thawed milk. :sigh:

Anyway. Hope y'all are doing well.
fiberaddict: (Default)
but we brought the kids home last Saturday, and we've been a bit busy ever since. We got the kids home and settled, then started panelling the Studio. We got...well, part of it done - we had to, because the carpet was installed Tuesday morning. We've been working on it all week - as of right now, the walls are about 80% done (it takes forever....because you have to rest at least a half-hour after installing each panel. :sigh:); we have the panels for the ceiling, but no telling HOW long that's gonna take. :grumble:

We eased back into school. Herself has been obsessively churning out jewelry (she has to Make Things when she's stressed.) - MIL had given her a lot of loose gem stones, and she's finally started using them. I have a lovely ring with one of MIL's amethysts set between 2 small pink sapphires. Amethyst was her favorite....now I have something to remind me of her. (I also have a bunch of new earrings, and she's working on a necklace for me.) Himself has been working with the Replicator....it keeps jamming, and he keeps UN-jamming it. and :sigh: It's new tech, so it's to be expected, but it's frustrating, too.

Think that brings us up to date......I need to do a grocery run, so later!
fiberaddict: (Default)
Let's see.....Monday, the last of the family left. I took the kids over to FIL's, did a bit of puttering for him, then headed home. SG and I went out and got the ceiling fan for my Studio, then had dinner, then started getting ready for bed...and the phone rang.

FIL got out of breath, panicked, got worse, and called 911. The paramedics took him to the ER...at 9 PM. So. I made a lot of phone calls, to see a) what was going on; and b) to see if he was going to be admitted or not. At 11;45, they decided they weren't going to keep him...so I hit the road. :sigh:

At 12:15, Himself called - the ER sent FIL home in a cab. :bangs head: I was...well, I was flying pretty low, so I kept going. I knew he'd need prescriptions, and he's not allowed to drive (per my SIL) right now. I got there a few minutes after he did, set him up for another breathing treatment, and watched him go into a panic attack AGAIN.

The Lord gave me the brilliant idea to make him a cup of tea. Honey/Lemon/Ginseng, to be exact. Yes, I KNOW it doesn't really do anything...but the entire process gave him something to concentrate on, and his panic attack receded and his breathing returned to normal. (I have since bought him 2 full boxes of the tea.)

I finally got to bed at 2:15 AM...and promptly woke up at 6. :sigh:

I got home and puttered around the house until 7 PM. then crashed and slept until 5:30 Wednesday morning....when I had to go back to take FIL to his doctor.

Yesterday I took Mom to get her car A/C fixed...and today? Today I am HOME. :sigh:

I painted most of the trim on the Studio, I've done a load of laundry, I've tidied up a bit...and now I am attempting to print some curtain rod holders. I have the curtains almost done......by sewing a little bit every evening. The Electrician started last night, and said he'd be done today (any bets???); we plan on insulating and panelling this weekend so he can come back Monday to put in the fixtures. Then we wait on the carpet (paid for yesterday....said they'd start in 2 weeks.) I have requested a bid from our plumber to trench from my Studio to SG's workshop (for the underground electric.....yes, I COULD rent a ditch witch myself and SG could do it...but I know how it'll go. I'll rent it, he'll start, his back will go out, and I'll be out the money with no trench to show for it - I do NOT have the strength to operate it, and Himself is at FIL's for the next week or so.)

Anyway - things are looking up, at least a little. Thank the Lord for that!
fiberaddict: (Default)
This is not aimed at any of you, dear readers - but I HAVE to vent or I will explode. If you prefer to not get involved in family-type drama, feel free to skip.

I can't believe some people.... )

So. Other than *that*, the funeral was nice. The pastor freely admitted he didn't know MIL very well (she.....was totally against organized religion - she felt most of them were hypocrites. :giggle:), but he did a good job eulogizing her. We draped her silk crazy quilt over the coffin - it looked really nice. SG and Himself were pall bearers, which was hard for Himself, but I thought it was a nice honor. Herself had a very hard time, which is understandable. All the above drama aside, Granny was her best friend.

Both kids are going back to FIL's tomorrow; Himself will stay 1 week (then we have to start his 11th grade year); she'll stay as long as he needs her to. I might keep ferrying Himself back over there on the weekends for a bit....we'll see what FIL needs. They would have been married 59 years 9/1.....he's doing OK, but......that's a long time to be around someone.

Rant over...for now.

:sigh:

MIL passed away Monday at about 12:10 AM. SIL said it was quick. The funeral is Friday at 3:30.

At least she's not stuck in the bed, unable to do anything. And at least the Lord granted her a painless end.
fiberaddict: (Default)
Let's see....Wednesday and Thursday, you'd have thought MIL was fine. A little confused, but fine. She was a *pistol* discussing decorating the room, griping about the "former" cook, praising the "new" cook......you'd SWEAR she was recovering. Friday she started slipping; she kept falling asleep while her hairdresser did her hair, she kept calling me SIL.....but still, she was *there*.

Saturday, she started sleeping all the time. Sunday and Monday she didn't wake up at all. Yesterday....yesterday the Charge Nurse told me she didn't think it'd be too much longer. Herself and I had to leave at noon, but the rest of the family was there.

Today I took off - we had an ortho appointment. I called SIL....and MIL has rallied. She woke up yesterday and demanded FIL *kiss* her (!), and laughed and giggled at all the jokes. This AM she's been sleeping....but still giggling at SIL's jokes and banter. :scratches head: She's also not as swollen as we'd thought she'd be (she's been off dialysis now for 11 days. Usually day 10 is it.).....we're confused. Hopeful, but......unless we're granted a miracle, this is the last gasp.

We've been busy. I've finished 2 pairs of socks, 1 dress, have 1 dress that just needs hem and buttonholes/buttons, and......my studio is almost built. And...we bought the kids a Makerbot Replicater. :innocent whistle: Herself is happily planning a BUNCH of cosplays.....(Ebay is your friend. I got it for less than half-price, and it only had about 6 hours of printing time. Still expensive, yes - but we don't have jet skis, or motorbikes, or go-carts...we don't have an RV, or go mountain-climbing, or other expensive habits. This? Will more than earn it's keep, I promise you. Both kids have plans for it.......and I like them to be creative. It's been fun this past week, watching them play around with it.)

Anyway. We're back on vigil tomorrow AM. My building should be finished tomorrow; tomorrow afternoon the electrician and flooring people are supposed to come out to quote me on those. Once the wiring is done we'll insulate and panel the whole she-bang, then the carpet can be installed and I can move my stuff. It's bittersweet, but.....life goes on.

2 weeks.

Maybe 3.

We had an impromptu meeting with Pallative care yesterday. Friday evening, SIL and BIL and I had set up an appointment for them to call in; SIL on the room phone and BIL on my cell. We wanted to explain to FIL - hold on, let me back up just a bit.

Wednesday, FIL got out of the hospital. He spent the rest of the day, and all night, with MIL at the Rehab. Thursday afternoon I got a call from the Rehab - MIL's #s tanked, she wasn't very responsive (we had noticed that at our visit Thursday AM, but attributed it to dialysis on Wednesday.), so he called the paramedics and they took her in.

Friday afternoon I got a call from the doc.....basically, prognosis was poor. VERY poor. Hence the setting up of the meeting - FIL knew she was bad, but honestly hadn't accepted what I was seeing.

So. We picked up FIL yesterday morning and headed to the hospital. The Pallative care nurse called me wanting to meet with us; I told her that well, the sibs and I had a family meeting set up at 10. She was thrilled and arranged to meet with us. I sent the kids out of the room, SG conferenced everybody thru my phone......

And we learned that her liver has rage quit along with her kidneys. Her numbers are SO bad that it's really stupid to keep up the dialysis, and they are going to put her on hospice. (MIL was sleeping during this). We cried, nurse left to set up a hospice meeting (Monday AM), and MIL woke up. Just as the kidney doc came in. He said, OK, we are stopping dialysis - and she got all happy. He started to explain WHY and SG said "Um, she JUST WOKE UP"....the doc immediately changed gears and said "We know you wanted it only temporary, so.....we're going to stop." :whew:

No, she doesn't know. Right now, FIL wants to keep it that way. So, she's in the hospital so that they can check her medicine (NOT a lie, actually, just...not the whole truth.) He's afraid that if he tells her she'll will herself to go early......and he is NOT ready for that.

Herself is a basket-case. She heard MIL say "So, they are finally stopping the dialysis. Yippee!" and almost lost it (she knows what that means. We've discussed it.) :sigh:

So. I apologize in advance for the upcoming radio silence. I was hoping I'd have longer, but it is what it is.
