grrrrrrrrrrrr....
May. 7th, 2006 07:25 pmback to the frogpond with the sock. 54 made a nice ribbing, but was still too loose for the lace to show up.
I think I'll try 48 for the ribbing, then *decrease* 5 for the pattern (needs 6 + 1). That'll put me at 43 stitches....we'll see.
And, for you real knitters that are screaming "Do a gauge swatch, stupid!"...well, this is a sock. I'd have to knit it in the round. If I'm knitting round and round anyway, I might as well do a sock and see what happens.
Besides, I like the fabric this yarn makes on 4s. Feels cushy - which I want in my socks - feels sturdy - ditto - and isn't hurting my wrists - too much.
I'll just have to keep playing with it to find the magic # for this lace pattern with *this* yarn and *these* needles.
Since I'm knitting for fun, it doesn't matter. Much. *g*
Think I'll not start tonight, though. I need to wind a warp for Mr. Art's scarf...and I really want to do some EE dyeing. Must go see what the stash coughs up!
