Thank you! The Gloss is the closest thing I found to the original yarn, and the silk content doesn't hurt.

I've been stuck on Ravelry's St*rmore groups, reading....most people say the original yarn IS a DK weight, not the Sport that so many people substitute.

The thing about Marg. Tudor...it's knit in strips: the thistles are separate from the roses. Sizing shouldn't be a problem - I measured myself last night, and am firmly in the Medium range (on the cusp for the bust size, and 1/2" larger in the..hips. The Large, however, would be TOO big. So... I figure, if the gauge is off I can always add stitches to the sides and fudge the sleeves to fit. (AS is KNOWN for her massive amount of ease. I think I'll be OK even at 8 sts/inch..but I'll aim for 9.)

I'm thinking the rose panels will be white (or dove gray, if I can find/dye some) and the rest of the sweater will be cranberry. I like the slashing effect...I just wish the designer had done it "right". I figure, I'll buy the 3200 yards of cranberry (original sweater calls for 13 balls...but I've heard the yardage is...OFF.), and get about 1000 yards of white. Yes, I'll have leftovers....but I'd MUCH rather have that problem than run out of yarn mid-sleeve. Once I finish the never-ending cardigan, I'll be ready to jump in on *my* sweater.
