So. I was thinking about 1 Thess. last night, and I wonder: What exactly - or WHO exactly - is meant by "the dead in Christ"? Because....I thought that once you accepted Christ, you had Eternal Life, and therefore wouldn't die - Spiritually, anyway. So....what does that phrase mean?

I looked up the verse in Strong's - die means, well, Dead. No longer living. So..that's not really a help.

I'm trying to look at it from the Jewish perspective (since the Apostles were Jewish, and well grounded in Torah)...but I still can't figure it out. I don't know where to go to look, either....

Anyway, that's what's been percolating in my head right now......

Work today went well - I was done by 10:30, and out of there by 11:45. Looks like we're going to stick to Tuesdays for the time being...things get done faster.

Danny and I were reading today Gen 3 (sweet!) and the stuff in the Torah class about the early church moving worship to Sun-day and then we started talking about flood day. Some how we got to Matt 24 and this - Matt 24:9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake."

if you go thru Rev - I am pretty sure Rev. 14 is the last of believers being on the earth before the evil on earth is finally wiped out.

"And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. "

not 100% sure if these folks are getting new earth straightened out while everyone else is hanging out in heaven until the 1000 years is up or what? but you know bodily ressurection has confounded people throughout the ages.
obviously you don't need a real body in heaven but if earth is gonna be recreated and people are going to be hanging out there eventually...maybe we do need a body

But all the stuff about harvesting and gathering into the barn seems to fit rapture stuff, it just seems to be mentioned after a lot of other crazy hard awful things happen.
Oh my - it is almost 11 pm here- I need to get to bed. Sorry if the rambling is confusing. Trying to organize my thoughts in your comments section isn't very neighborly of me. Maybe tomorrow I can re-evaluate
