First up, my WIP - a hat for SG's aunt:



The pattern is "Curiosity" off of Ravelry. Easy-peasy knit - I should be done with it today. There's a set of matching fingerless mitts; those are going to be her birthday prezzie.

Another pair of the Black Forest Braided Gloves - I love this pattern. Easy, fast....we'll see if I do any more. :lol:

School news: Today is the last Art lecture. Next week, we'll be starting "The History of the English Language"...it looks fascinating. I LOVE the Teaching Company's lectures; I don't really want to farm out all our stuff to DVD/video lectures, but for some of them, it's great. We're still doing Horrible Histories every day, but that doesn't really count - it's Funny. :lol:

How can that possibly be fast to knit...I wish I knew how - I mean I can fumble with the big needles but I have not a clue how to knit quickly...and if I knit mitts liek that I sure wouldn't be using them for anything! I would be afraid to ruin them.

I've been knitting for almost 14 years.....so I have a little speed now. Plus, the mitts are over 70 stitches; after the ribbing it's just plain knitting. Color-changing is easy; you get into a rhythm and it just...goes.

Holy carp! I WISH I could knit that fast!
I might, on a good day, knit 50 stitches per minute. I knit "English" - my right hand holds the yarn, and I have to throw the yarn. The video is of "continental" - I'm trying to teach myself that, but it's slow going.

And I think e small movements might hurt my left wrist....but I want to speed up some. Especially this time of year!
