Um, it often takes me 2-3 muslins (and yes, I use old sheets, but they're old COTTON sheets) to get where I want, and I tend to muslin the bits I know to be a pain first, then add the bits that tend not to be a pain after the first few fitting muslins have happened.
You use the old stuff so you can slash and stitch with abandon.

PS top bodice is fine, but you (if you are the same shape as Cat) need to take in the back waist horizontally and vertically - it's a good 2" too long in the small of her back and about 2-3" too wide.
