Happy Day!

Thursday evening MIL was discharged and transferred to the Rehab/Nursing Center! Yesterday, FIL was discharged and sent home; we got him home and the kids settled (they are there for at least 1 week to help out), then he took me for a quick joy ride to ensure he was comfortable driving, dropped me off at the house, and headed back to stay with MIL. :too sweet:

SG and I headed out to lunch at a Mediterranean restaurant, then hit an outlet mall. I was in 3" wedges...not so much fun. :ol:

I have learned a bit about myself during all this. While I am NOT a dresses-only gal....I am learning to like them. FIL has been a big "help" - see, 1 day a couple of weeks ago Herself wanted to wear a dress. I did too, in solidarity. My cherry dress was loved by the nurses at the rehab center; when we walked in FIL did a double-take and started dropping compliments all OVER the place.

A few days later, I wore one of the 1940's house dresses.....again with a TON of compliments from FIL, and a couple from random strangers. Thursday I wore the purple and white polka-dot dress (my "Minnie Mouse" dress.), and got even MORE. (My favorite was from the yarn-shop lady (Jennings Street Yarns in Ft. Worth - GO. They are AWESOME! MIL ordered some loud, colorful socks, and they happen to be the closest to both the hospital and the IL's home. I am in BIG trouble...)

Well. Talk about a boost to my self-confidence! Part of it, on my part, anyway, is that I was wearing heels instead of flats, but I have to admit it's nice to hear nice things about yourself occasionally. (SG is NOT big on compliments. Maybe if I wore sports-themed things.....)

Anyway, I have the itch to make some more dresses......at the outlet mall yesterday I realized that I gravitate towards "island" clothing - Tommy Bahama kept calling me back. Light, breezy, and natural fibers. I mean, I LOVE vintage-inspired.....but the 2 dress patterns I keep using are, well, "easy wear" - relatively loose, just skimming the body - not really Vintage (if you get what I'm trying to say. Not va-va-voom!) I've always leaned towards boho....so this makes sense.

Today is a lazy-day. I'm fighting fatigue and a cold, so...I plan on planting myself on the couch and knitting some lovely worsted-weight yarn into a pair of socks for MIL. Tomorrow will be a sleep-in day, then it's back to the Rehab/IL's Tuesday (MIL has dialysis M-W-F, so I plan on heading over there on her "off" days.)

Hope y'all have a great day!
