i'm tired...

fiberaddictwell, the friend and husband are no-shows. i'm not really surprised - they've done this to me before. tomorrow, she'll say they forgot. *sigh*
's ok, though - the kids were able to assemble the loom with a little help from me. (no, i did not use my left hand. yes, they did most of the work!) the hardest part was the overhead beater - that sucker took all 3 of us! i have 1 board left over...i *think* its for the counter-balance setup, but am not sure. will have to ask the seller.
all that's left is to warp it so i can tie up the harnessess to the lamms. i started winding a warp this afternoon, before deciding to go ahead with the assembly. *g*
and...........there is a new alpaca breeder in town. i met him way back at the highland games in june. he bought land not too far from me, and is in the process of getting set up.
anyway, he and his wife came out and brought me 3 fleeces: 1 cria, 1 young adult, and 1 aged adult. wowzers! the cria fleece is mostly chocolate...and it is yummy enough to eat! the adults aren't bad either - soft and lucious. 1 is palamino, the other brown.
he wants me to make him something out of the cria fleece, and maybe a throw out of part of the adults - the rest is mine mine mine. whee!
i don't mind - i get to play with alpaca, and i won't be cluttering up my cupboards with woven/knitted items i don't really need. or, the skeins won't lay around for years because i can't think of the "perfect" item to make them into. works for me.
off to wind more warp...after supper, of course.

Date: 2004-12-22 12:54 am (UTC)as to the alpaca being "kid friendly"....not sure. he tolerated my 2 (very active and nosy) kids saturday, but he didn't look too thrilled. he wasn't upset or anything - and they've raised their kids, so....maybe.
however...we might be able to coerce my mil into doing some baby-sitting. she told me they would keep the kids 1 weekend a month....don't see why she'd mind doing it *here* for only 1 day instead of 2. *g* don't tell her i volunteered her, though....*vbg* or maybe my mom....
