we (the kids and I) spent a bit of time this AM brain-storming names for soap. I was typing up labels, and I really don't like using the scent name - because suppliers don't always keep the same scents, and...well, I just don't like using the names (sometimes I do, because I can't think of anything else to call it. :sigh:)

Anyway. I was typing up labels for my Oatmeal soap - the scent is named "Oatmeal, Milk and Honey". *I* wanted to call it "Winter Breakfast", but I asked for opinions from the floor. Himself said "Well, yeah, but what if you don't LIKE Oatmeal? Then the name might make people not buy it." I was a bit annoyed, so I popped off "What? So I should call it Oats-n-Goats?"....which was an instant hit.

So. The Beer soap is now "Tipsy Goat - (insert beer type)". We already have "Whey Cool (insert scent) " for the Whey soap.....I just need to come up with slightly descriptive names for the other scents. (For example, right now the Rosehip-Jasmine soap is "Grandma's Flower Garden". The scent is mostly Tea Rose, which I associate with my Grandma.....but I'm still looking for the "perfect" name. Somehow "Munching on Roses"......well, *I* like it, but I'm not sure it's *perfect*)

Both kids want to call the Lavender soap something like "Counting Goats" or "Kids dreaming of Milk"....but I'm not sold on those. Maybe "Cashmere Dreams". :scratches head:

Oh....and the Sandalwood? I'm thinking of "Nubian Delights" or "Nubian Bazaar" (right now it's Marrakesh Bazaar......but, like I said, I'm still thinking.) If I went with Nubian Delights/Bazaar, then I could have Alpine (whatever) for a cool, wintry-type scent. (Alpines and Nubians are both dairy goats, in case you didn't know.)

And hey! What about "Pyrate Goat" for the Bay Rum scent? (I could keep going, you know. And getting sillier with every name. But I'll stop. For now. :snicker:)

Ideas welcomed - be silly! If I chose the name (or even something close - I'm fair!) I'll send you a free bar of soap. (Be careful, though - the first bit is what gets you addicted.)

When I think of a cashmere soap I think of candles and bubbles so I'd probably name the tea rose bar cashmere dreams, lavender seems a bit astringent for that scenario. I'd probably call the Lavender bar Sachet because my mom always kept sprigs of lavender in her drawers and closet. Goat Sachet would be funny, but I'm not too sure the customers would appreciate the picture that creates.
If you have a soap that's very invigorating, or one that's made to scrub the farm off of your skin you could call that one power shower. For the Bay Rum you could call it The GentleRam's Bar, with a caricature of a goat in a bowler with a monocle, high collar and a handle bar mustache, akin to the Charlie Chaplin era.

The funny thing is most stuff you associate with goats is kinds of....not evoking the idea of stuff that smells good...
What would be funny? if you had a show name/barn name for each soap.
Like for your lavender - if you used the "Cashmere Dreams" name as it's "nice name" but it's "barn name" (or alter ego name or AKA - what ever) Could be "Kids in Jammies" Or what ever.
For you Bay Rum - It could be SwashBUCKler for the nice name and Hooves on Deck for the Barn name (I thought of Goat Booty - but no one wants to use soap named after a goat's booty)
For "Grandma's Garden" the AKA could be "Caprine Snack Bar"

Ok...maybe I should stop and do something productive...
Can not wait to see the store front opened - Fun fun!
