:SQUEE!!!!!!!:
Nov. 22nd, 2005 06:39 pmOMG!!! I just got an e-mail from AA and Steph - my new wheel is FINISHED!!! They'll be shipping her out after Thanksgiving *squee!*
Here's a shot that Steph sent me - the wheel is on Alden's workbench, in the shop (I think.....):
I am dancing around the house, here - this is way cool!
I ended up owing a little more for her....but I'll re-shuffle the Christmas bonus around and zip him the balance. She's GORGEOUS, and I've waited so long......and she's well worth the cost (how do I know? Because I have 2 of his wheels already, and they are marvels of spinning technology. WELL worth every penny I spent on them!)
I had already decided that this would be the last wheel I'd be buying (well, if I run across a deal on an antique Canadian Saxony, I'll jump on it...), so I'm *thrilled* with how she turned out.
I need to clean off the loom, straighten out the studio, and card up a bunch of fiber this weekend. I must be ready for a spinnymoon when she gets here!!
(why, no, I'm not excited or anything - why do you ask??)

Date: 2005-11-23 10:27 am (UTC)One of the reasons for delay on this one was his health - he has/had (do you ever get cured?) gout in one of his hands. That lost...6 or 8 weeks, IIRC.

Date: 2005-11-23 10:31 am (UTC)I've never had the pleasure of test spinning a Lendrum - but I've heard good things about them. Unfortunatly, I live in an area with no close spinning supplier. The closest one only carries Ashfords (and maybe Schacht), but she's primarily a weaver. The other "closest" one is over 2 hours away; the last time I was there they only carried Ashford, Schacht and Majacraft. I think there's room for another dealer...but I don't know how to tempt any out here.

Date: 2005-11-23 01:03 pm (UTC)I really love my Lendrum--it's my first wheel, and I can't speak highly enough of it. There aren't any local dealers of much of anything around here, either--there's a shop about half an hour away that has a small supply of spinning stuff, but she's concentrating on the novelty knitters and she's more a weaver than anything else, so she only has her personal wheels at the shop. The closest "real" fiber shop is up in Lancaster County, PA.
