that you can't run an appliance that needs 115v on 110v? Well - you *can*, but it'll make strange noises and generally just not work right. At least nothing blew up or caught fire.

So...now I wait for an electrician to call me back.

I didn't even know there were things that ran on other than 110 or 220. Huh. Learn something new every day.
