not sure why. RH is over, we're in the '10 Days of Awe' leading up to Yom Kippur (did you see where Glenn Beck is calling for a National day of Prayer and Repentance....ON Yom Kippur? I mean..OK, but if you're going to try and co-opt THE Holiest day of the year, you'd better observe it correctly! *ahem*)....wait, where was I?

 Himself is having a hard time at school dealing with "the stupid people, Mom!". Seems he's gotten into a few...discussions...about our beliefs. "Mom! It's Right There. But they still eat Pigs! They're Stoopid!" *cough* "No, honey - they're just following what their church has taught them. They - " "Then their church is Stupid! They should know better!"

Poor kid. He is color-blind, anyway, and this proves it - he only sees things in Black and White. I gently tried to move him away from the "Stupid" by saying, "well, yes, the church has things wrong, but the people are only following what they've been taught. That's why we no longer attend - I was tired of trying to correct all the wrong teachings."

And yes, the church IS wrong - on a LOT of things.

Item the first - Replacement Theology. Most churches (I can't say "ALL", since I haven't visited every church currently in existance. I have visited a LOT, though...and all of them have taught this) teach that the Jews *were* Yah's chosen, but because they "killed Christ" (Ummm, no - the ROMANS actually did the deed, as per prophecy. READ your Book, idiots!) they have been rejected and replaced by christians. :bangs head: Wrong, wrong, WRONG. Early believers WERE Jews. New believers - former Gentiles - BECAME Jews when they accepted Jesus. Paul spells it out numerous times - we have been grafted in. :grrrr:

Item the second - The God of the Old Testament and the God of the New are.....the same, but different. The New Testament God is a loving God, NOT the disciplinarian of the Old. Ummm.....what? WHERE does it say THAT? Yah is never-changing. HE made a covenant with Abraham, with Issac, and with Jacob, that they and their decendants were HIS people; He would Bless those who blessed them and would curse those who cursed them. Just WHERE did He go "Oops, ya'll screwed up - you're OUT! Next!"???

Item the third - the Old Testament is no longer important, since "we" replaced the Jews. Ummmm, again - WTH? Jesus Himself said that He came "not to abolish the Torah (the OT!) but to fulfill it" Where, exactly, does it say that the OT laws no longer apply? (I have even read one chrischun claim that the 10 commandments are no longer in force thanks to Jesus. Ummm.....yeah. Whatever.) Jesus DID "wipe out" all the sacrificial laws, thanks to His atoning blood - but the rest? Are still in force.

I could go on and on, but I need to stop and get ready for my work day. Those 3 reasons, though, are part of why we no longer attend church, and no longer consider ourselves chrischun. The church, as it is today, is NOT what Yah intended - He intended His worship to be the way He laid it out in the Torah - basically, Jewish, but with a Risen Messiah. It's not hard to grasp, if you just Read the Bible. Seriously - most people blindly follow man's doctrine instead of what the Bible says...and a LOT of church practices are flat-out contrary to Yah's own Word.

Man...I kinda went off the rails, there. Ah, well - guess it needed to be said.
