Somehow my office PC got infected with the XP internet security virus...I honestly don't know *how*, since I don't download from unknown people - just the bank and contractor, I don't visit "those" types of sites, I NEVER click on the "fix your PC NOW!!" windows.....but it's there. AVG didn't find it, and I can't download any patches or fixes, because the damned thing claims that IE is full of trogans, virii, and spyware (which IS funny, I have to admit - but damned annoying too!)

So. Radio silence for a bit - we have to go Buy something to try and remove it, since AVG can't see it. :sigh:

Sweet Geek looked into it, and said that was the best - HE can "fix" it, but he doesn't want *me* to mess with it. (I...don't know what's up with that, but whatever).

Stupid hackers.....

I got that one the day before Christmas. Annoyed the bejeebers out of me. I had to take my computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy to rid myself of it.

When I got infected last December, Brian had a guy from work download ComboFix (free on-line) to a disk, and I got rid of enough of the virus with that to download SUPER anti-spyware (which pegged the other problems) and Malwarebytes' anti-malware. Those three fixed everything.

Good luck with this!
