let's see....we had a busy weekend!

Saturday )

Sunday )

Finished Sweet Geek's socks this morning. Yesterday, I started a pair of Monkey's for me - I'm already on the third repeat. They're going to fit...but it may be a bit snug. I like how they're turning out....just don't like the yarn so much (Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock Stripes; colorway: Funky Stripe). Still....nice, loud socks. Speaking of, I must get back to them!

and the weather outside is frightful. How's that for mixing song lyrics?

Am within 1" of starting the toe on Sweet Geek's #2 sock. Yeah...the socks I started before we headed to Terlingua last year. Yeah, my wrist hurts.....here's the deal:

I figure, the doc TOLD me to do range-of-motion exercises for a month. The same exercises that did no good before; in fact, they made the pain WORSE. So....if I am supposed to do something that wrecks my wrist more (logical conclusion, yes?), I might as well end up with something tangible out of it. Right? Right.

So....the kids each have a new hat. I have a cushy Calorimetry. Sweet Geek will have a pair of socks. Soon as my Knitpicks order comes in (STILL Hasn't shipped, that lying Customer Service girl....) I'll have a new hat. While waiting on my KP order, I'll knit up my xmess prezzie from my SIL - she gave me a pair of skeins of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Socks Stripes, in "Funky Stripe" (google it...I can't take a photo - it'd break my camera. Seriously.) I LOVE wild socks....this yarn? Is....well......bubblegum pink and lime green. :shudder: My feet will be *heard* a mile away.

I'm thinking Cookie A's Monkey socks...we'll see. They should go fast - 64 stitches on Size 2s. :fingers crossed:

We're hoping there's no wind this weekend..the boys put together Himself's rocket-with-space-shuttles last night, and will be assembling Sweet Geek's rocket-with-helicopter-blades tonight. :silly boys: They want to watch things explode! :snicker:

More later - I wanna get this sock finished!

Knitpicks still don't show my order as being shipped. :taps fingers: I'm almost done with Sweet Geek's sock (Finally! All that stockinette is driving me nuts!), and wanted to start the hat next. His cardigan is still on the needles, yes - but I can't pick it up and put it down easily - I get lost in the pattern, so need blocks of time for it. :sigh: Guess I'll just need to start a pair of socks for *me* while I wait.

I think we have the weekend pretty well planned. Indian Pow-Wow Sat. morning, then, weather permitting, fireing off some of the rockets. I think Himself has it all planned - which rocket to go first, etc. :snicker: General consensus is that we need more engines. (Ya think?)

Still not sleeping well. Was up every 2 hours last night. :sigh: Must pick up something at the store tonight, I think - I need my sleep!

There was a cat in the chicken yard last night. Need to fix the mesh top again. It'll have to be replaced when the weather warms up - 34* is NOT conducive to me pulling wire and stapling it down. :sigh: In the good news department, though, we're getting a green egg every other day. Saturday, it'll be green eggs and ham (if I can find some turkey ham, that is.)

Gotta write the office's checks, so - later!

so, of course, I have a lunch date with my man. The day is looking up!

There were actually 20 rockets in the tubs. There is also a *lot* of spare parachutes/shock cords/parts...so we're set to go. For $1. :shakes head in amazement: We've got plans for Saturday - there's an Indian Pow-Wow and Dance Circle we'll be taking pictures of - and we're going to run by the Hobby Shop so Himself can personally thank the owner for the bounty.

Spent last night working on the charts for my hat. I have them all worked out - She Who Shall Not Be Named (with the initials AS)'s Celtic Needlepoint book came in handy for the large motif. The border will be the wave pattern (like on the KnitPicks hat), the large motif is going to be a square knot, the medium pattern is a "chain-link" knot, and the small, top motif is this interesting star and bar type pattern. They all fit within the total number of stitches...but my row count will be off. My hat will end up a bit longer, but hey - that's cool with me! BTW, hand-graphing knots sucks...I spent more time erasing squares and changing the color than I did actually filling in the blasted things. :sigh:

Now, we wait on KnitPicks to actually SEND OUT my order. :sigh: I think I'll be calling them in a bit to see why they haven't....and to see if I need to spring for expedited shipping. I want to start my hat, dammit!

Supposed to be 60* today, and 41* tomorrow. We'll see...it's 32* right now. Yes, I'm cold. I *need* a warm hat.....

Whoa!

My dear sweet man just got the deal of the century, I think. He went to a hobby store at lunch, to "pick up a replacement rocket in case we can't get Himself's out of the tree. And some more engines." OK...that's cool. I reminded him to get some A-whatever engines for R2, and went about my way getting lunch.

He just called me. After checking out (he got 1 rocket and...3 sets of engines), the store owner (who was cashering) asked "Are you into Rocketry?" "Me and my son are getting into it" (:squee: *ahem*) "Well, you gotta dollar on ya?" "Ummm, yeah." "Give it here - I got a great deal for ya!"

Sweet Geek handed over the dollar ("After all, it's just a buck!"). The guy took him behind the counter.....where there were 2 large tubs. Full of Rockets. "Here ya go! What'ch'a driving? A truck? Great - this'll all fit, then!" :boggle:

So...there are at least 20 rockets there, most unassembled. From small, starter rockets to big, over 3' ones. Plus at least 1 launch stand. For *$1*.

Seems the store is mostly RC cars/trucks/helicopters/airplanes - they sell very few rockets....so, we got toys!

Now, to keep it secret from Himself until Sweet Geek gets 'em home......

Yesterday was a fun-filled day. Finished Himself's new hat....well, I have a LOT of photos to post, so I'll do cuts, OK?
