Whee!

Just got news the boss isn't coming up - break out the party hats, mama! I'm in the middle of "Tis" by F. McCourt....it's good. It's not so gripping I can't knit at the same time, which makes for better reading.

I'm up to the decreases on the latest washcloth.....wrist is a bit ouchy, but not bad enough to stop. I just might get it done today...we'll see. I've been cranking them out lately...but none for *me*. Hmmmm...need to do something about *that*.

Won't be at guild tonight - no sitter, and I'm not going to subject my children on people. Ah, well....I can sit at home, with gunk in my hair , spinning for the Top Sekkrit Projeckt. :giggle: Maybe. I might....watch TV or something. (Wait - don't want to go hog wild here! :snicker:) Plus, it looks like rain. My Norwegian does NOT go out in the rain - she stayed in the truck Sunday because of the clouds. (Yes, I spoil my wheels - you would, too, if you had such nice tools!)

(Speaking of wheels - my Production wheel is currently "nekkid". Not sure where that puts it on the production front, but it's reassuring that I know (from eye-witness accounts) that Alden is working on it. Whee!)

Add to the fact that yes, my foot *does* have some broken-ness about it. It's currently taped, but still very sore.....not sure the toes are broken, but *something* is cracked. Stupid little shit.... I'll keep her anyway, 'cause she's cute.

Sweet geek sent me some Lego links...Himself is in Heaven. Especially with the instructions I printed off today...he'll be building a Firefly-class ship tonight, I'm betting. :snicker:

Back to the book and wash cloth!
fiberaddict: (Disney: L&S Punish friends)
it's pouring....what a dark, dismal morning this has been! Fits my mood...I don't know if I'm just being paranoid, or if I'm being careful..but *someone* has been watching us and coming onto the property. Can I prove it? No....not really. But - when water troughs get turned completly around, and gates are unlatched (and there are NO horses in that particular paddock)...well, *something's* going on. :sigh:

I thought I was so *done* with this stuff! Plus, I'm getting a LOT of unavailable calls now.....when I do decide to answer them, there's nothing. No one responds, they don't hang up..just silence. :pah: It's getting old right quick.

Ah, well - I've lived it before, I can do it again. The .45 still fits on my waist (I need to poke holes in the belt now, but it fits) and I can still hit what I aim at. I still have 2 magazines fully loaded, and I can pick up more ammo this weekend. It's just.....so old, y'know?

In other news: Almost finished with Herself's vegan fox. Am up to the ears, now. Have the yarn for Himself's (Hers is a "fire fox"; His will be a "Water fox". Fun stuff!) Am almost finished with the current tatted bookmark (size 30 thread.....I think I like the finer stuff better!). Have 1 more batt to spin, then I can figure out what to ply it with. I'm thinking shawl, here...

Not much else to report. Guild last night was good - even with the kidlets there. Himself wove, a bit, and Herself drew pictures. I knit - I had hauled the rest of the rags along, so only had room for 1 wheel and the RH Loom. (Louie the Louet got to come - good thing too, since the newbie spinner showed up and got to ply her yarn! Whee!) I'm not going to be there next week - Wed. is the start of Rosh Ha'shannah, and I need to get the challah made, and the house re-cleaned beforehand. So...Tuesday is the final prep day. We have another meeting Saturday...with the K. County "Fine Arts" group. I'll give 'em an hour......

OH!!! And, Moonie's filly has a new home! Whee! I need to dig out Moonie's papers for the new "parents" so they can name the wee princess - I'll try to do that tonight. I'm down to 2 more to go - Moonie herself, and Finn. :sob: Can't keep 'em - I don't have enough time or energy.
fiberaddict: (Disney: L&S Stitch bonking head)
I know it's got to do with the upcoming Feast...but MAN have my dreams been bonkers lately. This morning's was a doozy.....I was with friends, at night, and there was a flash of light...that evolved into a flaming red techno-colored angel. I *knew* it was Gabriel; he blew the trumpet, and - I woke up. Singing camp songs. :bigger blink: At 2:30 AM.

I don't remember much of the 2nd one, except that it was more of the same. Yes, Rosh Ha'shannah is coming up. Yes, there are signs in the sky. Yes, the world is going to Hell in a handbasket......I'm glad my Faith is strong.

Anyway...Guild tonight. The kids have to go with, since it's Mom's Choir practice. No biggie - Herself has a book, Himself said he'd weave. Or something. I'll grab the RH loom, the portable DVD player, and my Louet - I have to load up the last few rolls of rags, and with the kids there will be NO room in the truck for my lovely AA. The Louet? Can ride in the bed. The AA? Not hardly. I can work on Herself's vegan fox or tatting or something.

Tomorrow night is my choir practice - 2 late nights in 1 week are gonna be hard. Next week there's nothing - the Feast starts Wed. evening, so I am skipping guild to finish the prep. The house is clean (except for the front room and floors...with the rain, the floors will remain unclean. Dogs + sand + rain = messy floors.) The kids can stay home with G'ma...if the weather is nice, they can swim. If not....there's always Nintendo.

I might have sold Moonie's girl. We'll see - if so, she's going to a terrific home. It feels right.....no pressure.

We started feeding Bullseye molasses - he can't smell his feed without it, and he's lost even more vision. The smell seems to help......

Need to find someone to install the light in the loom room. Of course, I also have to find the time - next weekend is already booked. We have an Arts Guild meeting to go to, then Rally Day at church, then Sunday Pastor is meeting with the kids that went thru the class....AND a Pow-wow is going on in Grand Prairie......:whew: Don't know how to fit it all in. Should be amusing.....

I'm still stiff and sore from all the work we did this weekend. The loom was rehomed (THAT was fun!), the rags were rehomed (ditto!), the zoo.....my feet might never recover. Yesterday was a "lazy" day - we only spent 45 minutes at the store buying art supplies for Herself's art class (5th and 6th grades get 1 elective...Band, Art, or PE. Guess which one Herself wanted?) $76 dollars later (on TOP of the normal school supplies!), we have 1/2 of the stuff. I'll try to get the rest this week from JoAnn's.

OK, stream of consciousness posting needs to end - I've got work to do and a boss on the way in. :sigh: At least this is more restful than the weekend!

Ugh...

I am so tired today. Guild meeting last night - it was great; I got the loom re-homed and the rags moved out, I got another of the lovely batts (Wild Wines by Franquemont Fibers - LOVELY stuff; I need to find a color to go with in a silk thread so I can maximize this yummy stuff...I'm thinking shawl for ME, here...) spun up (1 to go! Should all fit on the same bobbin....) - all in all, it was a lovely time. I left at 7:30, since it's school-time and the kidlets needed to be tucked in, homework checked, folders signed.....

Himself was having a rough time, for some reason. He had decided that everyone hated him, no one cared....:sigh: It took me 30 minutes to get him calmed down...and he ended up in bed with me. :bigger sigh: I don't mind - I certainly didn't want to leave him alone in that mood, but it meant that I got NO sleep at all. (He's 7. Very....mobile sleeper. Every.Single.Time I moved, so did he...plus he kicked me a few times. Ah, well - they're only young once!) I *do* know where some of that came from - I was too slow in removing a bad influence. :guilt trip: (And yes, I *do* know this for a fact - I had a little snitch tell me what was being said to Himself by said bad influence. Seems I wasn't the only one not good enough, not worthy - never mind. I took care of it. Things like "You're SUCH a baby - your mama needs to make you grow up!" and "Your mother can't even love you - she can't love anybody". Yes, this was said. To a *7* year old. Stupid male......never mind. It's over with, thank God!)(It wasn't done so much with Herself. I don't know if it's because she wouldn't put up with it, or what - but Thank God she didn't get too screwed up!) I, um, obviously still need to work on forgiveness here. :sigh:

He woke up in a MUCH better mood, and agreed that he was a pretty special li'l boy, and that yes, a lot of people loved him very much. Go, me!

Herself is doing good. She likes school (because, and I quote, "My teachers don't give much homework!"). She's also decided to take her own lunch every day (of course. I just paid a $10 subscription fee and put $25 on her lunch card.....why WOULDN'T she want to pack her own??) At least she's happy right now - I don't know if I could cope with 2 upset children at the same time. (For one thing, my bed's not big enough - I'd have to sleep on the floor!)

For those who think I "spoil" my children....nope. They don't get everything they want (or even most everything). They have to work for stuff, they have daily/weekly chores. I do let them have some freedoms - how else will they learn? It's also better for them to screw up at home instead of when they are out on their own. Do I coddle them? Again - not really. They know that there are consequences for each and every action. They don't get the latest and greatest toys/games - I mean, geez! We JUST bought a N64 system! (Can you say antiquated? Parts are around, but not everywhere, and I've only found *1* place locally we can get used (NOT new) games at. Online is about the best way to go...); they do NOT have their own cell phones/computers/iPods/whatever. And, when I say we can't afford something, that means NO.

Work sucks.....Ms. Boss has been coming in Every.Single.Day, and doing NOTHING but bug us. Every.Single.Phone.Call has to be explained to her ("That was just a solicitor. No, we really *aren't* interested in listing our business in the International Yellow Pages - it'll cost and the guy was from India and I couldn't hardly understand him" and "It was a wrong number. NO, I don't know who it was - nor do I care") :sigh: Personal calls? Get us in trouble. Even at 5 minutes to quitting time. Days off? We have to ASK for permission.....my question? What if she says no? And my kid is sick and MUST go to a doctor????? :bigger sigh:

Ah, well....no big deal. It'll get better...sooner or later.

it's been crazy busy here lately. :whew:

Guild went great - we are (for the moment) meeting every Tuesday. Pretty soon I'll have to bail on some of them - I can't keep up with all the late nights! I taught a lady how to spin - the Norwegian is a wonderful wheel, but it is NOT suitable for teaching newbies. Still, she did well - filled 2 bobbins - and I'll bring the Louet next week.

The bad news? I BROKE one of my bobbins! :wail: The wonderfully talented Alden has told me to ship it back and he'll operate - so that's good. But...:wah:!

It's been hot, hot, hot here lately - the pool was 90* last night. :sweats:

Have my sermon notes typed up - there's just a few more things to add to it (you've been warned!) I'm......well, there's quite a bit I didn't agree with, and it's taken time to pull it together. Plus, I woke up this AM with another bit that needs to be added.....

More later!

Whee!

The meeting last night went great - even if I had screwed up the date (it..umm..was supposed to be NEXT week :bangshead:) We'll be having another one next week, with even MORE people - whee!!!!

Waiting for Sears today....what fun! My bedroom is tidy (finally!) the laundry is empty (whoa!), dishes are all washed (by hand, yet!)....and I'm pooped. Will be hitting the couch later for some much needed napping..the kids can be on the lookout for Sears and wake me up when he gets here.

Am about 3/4 done on the tatted bookmark. I need to work on my tension, and on keeping my picots even, but it looks good. I've already got 4 or 5 new projects lined up  (let's not count the knitting, weaving, or spinning projects, ok?)

Got a whale of a deal on fabric napkins - set of 4 for $0.95. I grabbed 4 sets - 2 gold, and 2 green. They're lovely, and will look nice on the table. Now, I just need to weave off the current crop of dishtowels and start on a tablecloth

Back to work - gotta feed the hungry masses before they expire!
fiberaddict: (fiber: sheepie shoes)
I've been tatting up a storm lately! Am halfway done with my first bookmark - it's pretty. I need to work on consistancy, but it's looking like an actual bookmark! Mine's in size 10 crochet cotton, in varigated blues/greens (mostly blue tones). Pretty!

First guild meeting tonight - should be fun! I met two other fiber artists on Sunday - one of them is an *awesome* spinner - I am in awe! She showed me some of her consignment yarns - WOW. I aspire to be that good! Seriously - beautiful, beautiful yarns! The other raises llamas - and if the fiber she brought to show me is any example - Whoa! I may have found me a new obsession! Super soft, lovely colors.......ahh...wonder how much I can squeeze into my attic? :big grin:

Right now, though, tatting has me enthralled. I need to find a source for silk tatting thread......I want/need to tat some lace for a chemise. (Yeah, yeah - I need to finish weaving the trim, too.....but tatting is easier to haul around. Besides, a girl can never have too many chemises, right?)

The pool was *perfect* last night - right temp, right depth, total bliss. Too bad I'll miss it tonight....especially since it gets cleaned today. Ah, well - there's always tomorrow!
fiberaddict: (Calvin: Happy Dance)
Just got off of the phone - a gentleman here used to be a rug weaver....he got out of it because this place is too cheap for handicrafts (tell me about it!)....but he has all this....stuff....just sitting around.

That is, until Saturday, when I am taking it off of his hands. 400 cones of Maysville carpet warp, shuttles, rags for weft, stuff, a 2H rug loom, more stuff........

I'm thinking our guild has it's first piece of loaner equipment.....

:bounce::bounce:

Man, that article sure is paying off! We have our first meeting Tuesday evening...we got equipment.....whee!!!!!!!!!

The paper has paid off - we are getting set up for our very first ever County-wide Guild meeting! I've talked to the County Agent - we have had a *booming* response (I've talked to 3 people myself!!); she's talking to the Library to get some space, and we're picking a date for the first meeting.

One of the interested parties studied under Lydia Van Gelder; 1 has sheep and goats and is DYING to learn to spin and weave; 1 knits and wants to try spinning......TOO COOL!

:bouncing:

To say I'm excited is putting it mildly.
fiberaddict: (Disney: L&S Stitch upside down)
It was knitter's night out again. We had a blast - I made dinner (hey - I like to cook, I hadn't cooked in 2 whole weeks since the kids were gone...what can I say?), we had a smashing wine with it, then gabbed and she knit while I spun. (Pics of the singles will be along shortly - [livejournal.com profile] redemelde, you'll wanna see what your handywork is becoming!) Mucho fun!

Got to bed at the unholy hour of 10 PM (normal for me is 8:30, but remember I get up and the even more unholy hour of 3:45. It's a holdover from the 18 months of stalking....*sigh*), only to have the phone ring in my ear. Nothing drastic - just a nice phone call from my.....buddy. *eg* Whom I now need to plan a meal for......*vbg*

Oh - and note to self: white wine makes a good substitute for pain meds. No grogginess the next morning. Doesn't get rid of the pain, but it does make my give-a-shit go away.

Kids will be home in a couple of hours!!!
